A Nice Weekend

We went to a play date last friday at Barnes & Noble which means we must have went to the mall on Thursday. I can't remember, my days are all mixed up. We met several moms from our mom's group at B&N for a play date. The kids had a great time and made quite a mess of the children's area. B&N makes for a great play date whenever its rainy or cold.

I went to my CRHP girls group at church (Rachel goes too). I go every friday night which is a nice night out. Dane took the girls into the garage with him to workout and box. Dane bought Alexis kids sized boxing gloves so she can hit the heavy bag. She loves it. However, both Lexie and Izzie are girlie girls so I don't forsee them taking up boxing as their sport of choice. Sorry Dane. But nonetheless, they enjoy having their daddy time and all the great activities that daddy comes up with.

On Sat, we went to Milledgeville, GA (about an hour and half away from Athens) to my friend, Jessica's wedding. Jessica also works with Dane. It was raining but her wedding was so beautiful and very elegant. Alexis and Isabelle had the time of their life at the reception. They danced the night away...at least until 8:45pm when we decided to head home. The cutest moment was when a slow song came on and Alexis asked her daddy to dance with her. It was so precious. If only I had my camera!! I could not believe I forgot my camera!! There are many pictures of the girls floating around out there between other guests who took their photos because they are so darn cute and the professional photographer who seemed like she was giving Lexie and Izzie their own photo shoot because she was just snapping away. I'll have to check with Jessica to see if they'll be posted online to see.

On Sunday, we had a lazy day and I went into work with the girls. Dane was called into work for a special project in Stockbridge, GA. They ended up keeping him overnight. I guess they had to flip 70 or so apartments. I am looking forward to the overtime check. We needed that especially since they have not had any overtime available since last summer.

Vroom...Vroom

While we were at the mall, the girls rode the ever exciting motorcycle. (note my sarcasm)

Rainy Day

It was a rainy day so we went to the mall to walk. I went at 9am totally forgetting the stores don't open until 10am. It was actually a really nice time to go to the mall. It was quiet, the kids could run around without getting into any thing. To my surprise, there were quite a few walkers that look like they come her frequently. I pushed the girls in their stroller a few laps around the inside mall perimeter and then we stopped to play on our mall's sad version of a kid's area which consists of 4 mini, overpriced rides you would see at Chuck E. Cheese. The girls seemed to have fun so that is all that mattered. They even saw the Easter Bunny and shook his or her hand.

When we got home, we took out some plastic easter eggs and had a pretend easter egg hunt. The girls like when I hide the eggs and they find them and put them in the basket. That was fun. I especially liked when Alexis hid the eggs in very obvious spots. For example, there would be 5 eggs laying in plain view on the couch. They are really getting into the spirit of easter. Dane has been praying each day with the girls. He taught Alexis how to pay on her knees in front of the crucifix. I find her occasionally praying spontaneously on her knees in front of the crucifix. Her prayers usually consist of our dinner prayer and then her saying thanks for her ponies and various other toys.

On that note, Alexis officially got into pre-k. She got her acceptance letter in the mail from St. Joseph's Catholic School here in Athens. She went to a pre-k screening at the school about a week ago. Donavan aka Isaac's dad is the principal. Whenever we go to church or school, Alexis is always asking where Isaac and his dad is. Unfortunately, Isaac is about a year may be 2 behind Alexis so they won't be in the same grade but maybe eventually they will go to the same school. We are so excited St. Joe's decided to start an accredited pre-k program this year.

Photos From This Week

Dane took the kids to the airport in Atlanta.  Whoever invented the portable dvd player...is genius.  It is like hitting the mute button on the kids in the car.  It makes for peace and quiet drives.
Lexie and Izzie were having a tea party with brownies.  It was so cute.  Izzie wanted to share her brownies with Lexie.

Storytime with daddy.  The Poky Little Puppy...a classic!  It's hard to see Izzie, she is laying next to Dane underneath the Dora Explorer book.
Lexie was taking a nap with Marlin.  Notice that Marlin's legs are almost as long as Lexie's entire body?  He is a good dog.  He absolutely adores the girls.

Izzie Sliding at Gymboree

While at Beth's birthday party, Izzie found her favorite activity...the slide!

Beth's Birthday Party

We went to Gymboree on Sat. for Beth's birthday.  She goes to our playgroup.  We love Gymboree, it is the perfect play area that suits both Alexis and Isabelle's age.  I am considering doing their birthday party there in Sept.

Visit From Auntie Danita and Mark

We took a walk on the UGA campus and the flowers were beautiful.  It made for the perfect photo op.

Dane's sister, Danita and her boyfriend, Mark came to visit us last week from MN.  It was the first time we met Mark.  He is such a nice guy.  Dane and Mark have a lot in common and were hunting buddies over the weekend.  They went turkey hunting but unfortunately did not get one. Danita is due to have her baby girl this July.  She got a huge garbage bag full of girl clothes from me that Isabelle grew out of.  She will be set in the girl clothes department.

Other news, I am taking my first stab at selling stuff on ebay.  I just listed 3 items to see how it goes.  So far one of the three has a bid.  We need extra money and we certainly have some extra "stuff" that we no longer use or wear.

Playing With Auntie Chelle

Auntie Chelle and Uncle Tommy got the girls these adorable, fluffy ballerina skirts.

The girls enjoyed playing with Auntie Chelle (my sister, Michelle).  Her hair is normally blond but she is always coloring it different shades of brown and blonde.  It was funny when Alexis told Auntie Chelle that she should get her "yellow hair" back.

Charleston Pt.7/Athens

Back in Athens, we had lunch at Doc Chey's Noodle Restaurant downtown.  Yummy!  Uncle Tommy is so good with the kids!

Here is the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cathedral in Charleston.  Dane and Alexis went to mass.  Izzie made it half way through before throwing a fit because it was naptime.  I put her in the stroller and went for a walk outside and she almost immediately fell asleep.

Views from the Charleston boardwalk.  It was foggy in the morning but by lunchtime, the sun came out and it was gorgeous.

Charleston Pt.6

Our hotel had fire pits where you could sit around the campfire and even roast smores.  It was a job keeping Izzie away from the fire pit but it did create a nice ambiance.  The girls played with a flashlight in the sand.  By bedtime, they had sand in body crevasses that I didn't know existed.
At the market, they had actual basket weavers.  It was amazing to see their art but I have to say that the little baskets were way over priced for my budget.  For instance, little baskets ranged from $155-250.  Crazy I know.  But someone must buy them or I guess they wouldn't bother making them.  It was still neat to watch.
Lots and lots of horse drawn carriages.  They give tourists tours of the city.

Charleston Pt.5

Michelle and Tommy got engaged in Marion Square Park which was across the street from their hotel.

Charleston Pt.4

The view from our hotel room was beautiful and relaxing.
Look at that rock!  Michelle's engagement ring is gorgeous and very sparkly.

Tommy and Michelle at the antique jewelry store reenacting his proposal.  She said she felt hot and light headed because with the ring it was all the more real.  I know Michelle has been wanting this for a long time.  Heck we all have.  So it's about time, Tommy!!  Welcome to the family!

Charleston Pt.3

Another view from our hotel room.  We had a small balcony off of our hotel room.  So we could see half of the USS Yorktown battle ship.  We did not have time to tour it but will most definitely do that on our next visit.  This photo doesn't do the ship's size justice.  It is gigantic.  There is a submarine you can tour too.  That would be pretty cool.
Dane and Tommy enjoying some stoggies.

Alexis and I at a cafe enjoying some java and muffin.
