Mom's Night Out

On Friday night, I went out with a bunch of friends from the Mom's Group. We went bowling at Kingpin's. It was fun, I definitely do not have a promising career in bowling. I think my best score was 96. Although, I do not think I had the lowest score. Rachel was a Pro! Now I know what she does while Isaac is in school. She has been practicing or she just has an unnatural talent for bowling. Melissa has a funny hop that she does before she throws the ball down the lane. I tried to mimic it and ended up smacking my left had on a pole. Ouch-that hurt! Julee had so much fun that she almost left the bowling alley with her rented bowling shoes still on. Speaking of bowling shoes, someone should design a new line of bowling shoes. It is about time we retire these ugly stereotypical bowling shoes and replace them with some hip Van or Converse type shoes. How great would that be? Teresa got really giggly. She's so much fun to hang out with! We had a lot of great laughs.

Afterwards, we went next door to La Parilla mexican restaurant. Shannon and Ginger met up with us. Teresa and some of the gals ran in to put our name on the 'list' and came back with a pitcher of Margaritas. While enjoying some great conversation over dinner, I was craving some fried ice cream but was a little too full to order it and a little too cheap too. So I jokingly said to Julee, hey it's my birthday today. I am not sure if she believed me or if she caught on that I was joking until later. She talked to the waiter who had the whole wait staff come to our table to sing Happy Birthday and even gave me a big sombrero to wear. They presented me with a gigantic fried ice cream with a candle. I was kind of embarrassed that they went to all the trouble but after a few drinks, it was nice having a birthday...even if it was my 'pretend birthday'. We all devoured the fried ice cream just short of licking the plate. It was delicious!! Julee got a shot for me but I knew better than to take it. I knew I had to wake up in the morning to 2 energetic children. I took a sip, and passed it around the table. The sad thing was, everyone took a sip and we still could not finish the shot. It tasted really strong but we were all trying to figure out what in the world it was. All Julee knew was it was supposedly a 'girly shot'. I tasted cherry, while Julee tasted chocolate. I think someone said Whiskey Royale was in it?? Not sure but I felt bad for it to go to waste. Melissa finally took one for the team and finished it. Alcohol kills off all the germs right?!? We had such a great time and I laughed so much that my face hurt!

Playdate at Harris Shoals Park

Look at my cute brown eyed girls!  They are so sweet to each other.  It is so fun to watch them bond with each other.
Isabelle wants to do everything Alexis does including going down the slide...even if it's an itty bitty baby slide.  Izzie thought she was a big kid!
I just love this picture of my little baby.  I maybe a little biased but she's so pretty!
Lexie is so photogenic!  She has such a beautiful smile.
Izzie in the big kid swing.  She was a little cautious at first but liked it after a while.  She is more daring of my 2 girls.

The Infamous Squirrel Bite

Yes...Alexis did indeed get bit by a squirrel. A couple weeks ago we were at Stone Mountain Park and there was a cute and very tame squirrel that people were feeding and taking pictures of. Alexis sat down relatively close to the nice little squirrel so we could take her picture. We told her not to touch the squirrel. Dane threw some popcorn on the ground to preoccupy the squirrel. While Dane backed up to take a picture, Alexis picked up some pine shavings from the ground. She lifted her hand in the direction of the squirrel and I think the squirrel felt threatened. So the not-so-cute-anymore squirrel leaped in the air, latched onto Alexis' skinny little index finger and started gnawing on her finger with it's front teeth like her finger was a piece of corn on the cob. Of course this entire event went in slow motion. I was probably 3 feet away from her but the squirrel was so fast. She only got 2 little puncture marks on her finger. She never cried. I think Alexis was more stunned than anything.

We immediately left the park and called Alexis' Dr. Her Dr said that squirrel bites are very common and it was very unlikely that it was rabid because apparently squirrels have short life spans and if they do contract Rabies, they show signs right away such as dragging hind legs, acting erratic, foaming at the mouth...We were still concerned that she would need Rabies shots and the Dr recommended us to call Poison Control and the Hospital if we wanted a 2nd and or 3rd opinion. Dane talked to Poison Control who said basically verbatim what Alexis' Dr had said. We were also informed there is a nationwide shortage of Rabies vaccines. Apparently only 1 of the 2 hospitals in Athens had it. St. Mary's is out. ARMC has some but not many so they only administer it if there is a high probability of catching Rabies such as if the squirrel seemed symptomatic or if it were higher risk animals such as a Raccoon or Bat. We started to contemplate whether to lie to the hospital and tell them the squirrel acted erratic just so we could get the shots for Alexis. Because if you catch Rabies, once you show symptoms it's too late and you die. Dane then called the hospital who confirmed the same info as the Dr and Poison Control and we concluded that we need to trust the advice we were given and put our trust into God. This is really hard to do at times especially when it comes to our kids!

Alexis is as healthy as a horse. It's a funny story now that will definitely make it into her baby book. On a separate note, I recently asked Alexis what she wanted to be for Halloween and she said a Squirrel. I took it a step further and thought that I should put Cool Whip around her mouth to make her a rabid Squirrel. Unfortunately, 5 local stores later, Squirrel costumes are not available and I did not feel like ordering online. We went to Party City and Alexis saw the Cat in the Hat so that is what she'll be this year.

Sigh...It's always an adventure with kids!

(FYI...she is not foaming at the mouth. It's pink cake frosting) See the little pink dot at the bottom of her finger? That's the infamous bite.

Here she is not only showing that she is 4 years old now, but also a squirrel bite victim.

Playdate at the Fire Station

Here are some pictures from our recent playdate at the Fire Station with our Mom's Group.  The kids loved it!  I joked that I would get these pictures off my camera by Christmas.  I have been famous for taking tons of pictures but not so great at uploading them onto my computer.  This blog has been fun to keep up to date so it has encouraged me to get the pictures posted.

It's Tea Party Time With MeMaw

MeMaw & Lexie's Tea Party

A little history on the tea sets...
After I delivered both Alexis and Isabelle, I was lucky enough to have my mom with me during the deliveries.  She bought both girls their first tea set after they were born.  I know she is sad that she can not have tea parties weekly with her granddaughters because she is so far away. We think about her every time we use the tea sets.

Every Thursday night, Memaw (Grandma) comes over to watch the girls.  Alexis and Isabelle look forward to Thursday night!  Each week, they have a tea party with goodies and apple juice. Alexis is in charge of pouring the 'tea'.

My mother in-law is going to yell at me for posting a picture of her but I think it's cute.  Alexis loves her Memaw!!

Bike Ride

Early Monday morning (hence why Isabelle is still in her pajamas) we went for a bike ride in our neighborhood.  We hooked on the trailer to our tandem bike and the four of us went for a nice ride.  The girls loved every second of it.  The best part was when Dane decided to take us "off-roading" down by the creek in the woods where he remembered there was a trail.  On the way down we got stuck in really thick Kudzu aka "the vine that ate the south".  We had to pick out the leaves and vines from the bike wheels and chain.  We had a good laugh!

Fishing

We went fishing on Monday.  Daddy had the day off so we went over to my brother in-law, Daniel's house and fished in his pond.  We had a blast.  We were catching fish left and right.  They were tiny but it was fun to catch and release.  We did keep Alexis' first tiny fish and brought it to the taxidermist to have it mounted for her.  That was Dane's idea (only a hunter would think of doing this to the poor 5 inch long fish).  I am excited to see how it turns out.
Alexis loves to fish and Dane hopes one day she'll enjoy hunting too.  We'll see...

Isabelle is sporting her MN Vikings hat from Grandpa Brian and Grandma Monica.

Marlin was being a good boy watching us catch fish.  He loves to come along with us.  Isabelle just hung out in the back pack.  She even took a good nap.

I only got my fishing line caught in the tree twice.  haha  I did manage to get it down by myself. I was impressed with myself as I put the worms on the hooks.  However, I had Dane take the fish off the hook as I caught them.

Castle Play

Playing in the new bouncy blow-up castle Alexis received for her birthday.

Grandpa Bob looks like he decided to take a nap in the castle.

Lexie's friend Isaac came over to jump too.

We had awesome seats!!!

Check out the bulldog on that guy's head!

A true fan!

Birthday Girls

Last week we had a fun filled week of birthdays for Alexis and Isabelle who are exactly 3 years and 3 days apart.  Here are some special photos of their birthday party.  Grandpa Bob from MN was here to celebrate which was an extra special treat.

I am so impressed with myself.  I made both of the girl's birthday cakes this year.  I think they turned out pretty cool and I must add, they tasted delicious.

On The Band Wagon

Good morning to all!  While I am brand spankin new to the blogging world, I have officially hopped on the band wagon and started my own.  As one of my friends told me, "All the cool kids are doing it".  I thought what the heck, I'll give it a whirl.

I think this will be a great way for family and friends (especially those who live far away) to see what the Walthers family is up to.
