Pre-4th of July

Alexis chanting about how she doesn't like fireworks because they are too loud. I predict the future holds a new invention, silent fireworks...at least if Lexie has anything to do with it. She is extremely sensitive to loud noises. I wonder if she will ever outgrow this?!? Oh well, Marlin kept her company in the back of the Suburban.

Lexie did enjoy accessorizing with the neon glow sticks. She made them into a belt, bracelets, and necklaces. Such a little fashion icon. She had fun hanging out with her friend, Kinder.

Izzie was tired from all the running as was Marlin. They both sat down next to each other to take a much needed break.

We saw fireworks near Chateau Elan with some friends. The kids all played together and held sparklers. The fireworks still proved to be too loud for Alexis even with ear plugs in. She insisted on sitting in the car until Daddy convinced her to come out. He held her and helped her hold her ears. Izzie was a trooper and loved every minute of the fireworks until she passed out. She fell asleep during the fireworks show! Although it was very late, probably about 2-3 hours past the girls bedtime.

Impromptu Soccer

We spontaneously decided to play soccer and grab a bucket of chicken. Melissa and Richard met us and brought their kids up to play our kids. Alexis sure looked cute as a button in her soccer outfit.

The Babysitters Club

I babysat for Melissa and Richard since it was their 10th anniversary. I brought my kids over for a bit to play with Ella and Nora. Alexis was hilarious in the Woody from Toy Story costume. After a while, Dane picked up my kids so they could get ready for bed. We played Hide & Seek, tag around the coffee table (I didn't come up with that one), and I even taught Ella how to do paper, rock, scissors. This was the first time in a long time that I babysat so the parents could go out. Usually friends will bring their kids over to my house or I will babysit for an hour or two while a friend goes to a Dr appt. It reminded me of all the years that I babysat as a teen. It seems like so long ago...oh yeah...it was.

Hiking The Gorge

Tallulah Falls and Tallulah Gorge Hike

Tallulah Gorge

Lexie and Izzie posing with Daddy
Ahhh...don't move a muscle or the suspension bridge will move. Yikes!!
Tightrope Walk...

We went hiking in Tallulah Gorge and the girls hiked all 560+ steps by themselves. We were both very impressed. Lexie and Izzie are excellent hikers and love the outdoors. The weather was beautiful and the Gorge was breathtaking. The girls especially loved the suspension bridge that hung over the Gorge.

Bye Bye Tandem

Today is a sad day...Dane sold our tandem bike. We have many exciting memories on this bike. It has taken us here and there...while wearing underwear (it just rhymed so I added that last part). One of my best memories on this bike was when Dane and I rode about 30-40 miles one day in Virginia. Later that day at home, I took a pregnancy test and found out we were expecting our first daughter, Alexis. We would hook up the Burley Buggie on the back and tote the two kids in the back too. They loved it and frankly we got a lot of attention and stares. We decided it is time to get 2 individual bikes as the girls will soon be old enough to ride on the kid bike hook-up thingy that attaches to an adult bike. Any way, we are passing on the tandem to another couple who will hopefully have as many great memories as we did.

Our Family Comedian

Izzie is always making us laugh. She has a Santa Bear that MeMaw gave her. She took the Santa clothes off of the bear and decided she would wear them. She ran around the house saying, "Ho-Ho-Ho Merry Christmas" in a creepy, masculine voice...quite funny coming from our cute little 2-yr old girl.

Playground Fun In The Sun

After dinner, we took the kids to the Elementary School down the street to play at the playground. It was a win - win situation. The kids had fun and they were nice and tired so Mommy and Daddy could enjoy quiet time when we got home. ;-) Gotta love playgrounds.

Swimming on Memorial Day

Swimming on Memorial Day at MeMaw and PaPaw's pool. The weather was gorgeous, hot and sunny. It is always fun watching the kids having fun...and Daddy too.

Marlin Meets His Same Species

We hosted a BBQ at our house with a bunch of our friends. One of our friends brought their puppy Great Dane over to play with Marlin. Marlin was beside himself he was so excited. He is used to playing with little dogs like Pugs so he was excited to play with a dog that could keep up with him.

Can't Get Enough Of The Pool

Little Miss Isabelle...do you have pool water in your mouth? Eww!!
Kick those legs, move your arms...go..go!

We love MeMaw and PaPaw's pool!!! We are getting really good at swimming. It won't be long before we won't need the wings.

Santa Is Here Year 'Round

Isabelle loves making her big sister laugh. Lexie thought it was pretty hilarious that Izzie was in fact Not Izzie, but was indeed "Santa's Little Helper"!

SJS PreK End of Year Party

Izzie is an honorary member of the Pre-K class.
Alexis hanging with her besties. The kids all ordered cute personalized t-shirts that say their name, St. Joseph's Catholic School's 1st Pre-k. This was the first year that SJS had Pre-K available. We feel very lucky!
Me and the "Pre-K Moms"
Lexie with Miss Napoli
Lexie with Mrs. Stevens (also Maggie's Mom)

The school year has officially ended and this was my final party I would organize for at least this school year. It is time to hang up my "Room Rep" hat...at least for now. I really enjoy being an active volunteer at the school and church. I think Alexis enjoyed seeing me at all of the field trips, class parties and lunch duty too.
